How to Approach AKP Questions
1. Identify the Main Problem
Read the question carefully and decide what the child’s key clinical problem is.
2. Look for Red Flags
Always look for sepsis, shock, safeguarding concerns, airway/breathing problems and neurological compromise.
3. Choose Safe Investigations
Pick tests that answer the clinical question. Do not over-investigate if the diagnosis is clear.
4. Make a Safe Plan
Think about immediate treatment, escalation, communication, discharge safety and follow-up.
